Before powering up your PLC Trainer, you should take a few minutes to become familiar with the industrial control components on it.

1. Push Button - Four push buttons. A green, yellow, and blue momentary push button and a red maintained mushroom button (note image does not show mushroom button). Each button has two normally open (NO) contacts and two normally closed (NC) contacts. The normally open contacts are color coded green and the normally closed contacts are color coded red on the back of the trainer.

2. Selector Switches - 2 Position and 3 Position - Two 2 position selector switches, Switches 1 and 2, and two 3 position selector switches, Switches 3 and 4. The 2 position selector switches have a normally open contact that closes when you turn the switch to the right (clockwise). The 3 position selector switches have a normally open contact and a normally closed contact for both the left and right position of the selector switch.

3. Lights - Four lights colored green, yellow, red, and blue.

4. Analog Potentiometer and Gauge (only on AIO option) - 10K potentiometer and a 4-20mA/0-10VDC meter. See analog lessons for details.

Pin 1 - 0-10VDC input. The voltage input has a full range of 0-99.9 VDC with reference to the 0VDC common of the 24VDC power supply

Pin 2 and Pin 3 - 4-20mA input with Pin 2 being the + and Pin 3 being the -. The current input has a full range of 0-999mA.

5. Red Mushroom Button (only on ICP option) - This button is used to teach some of the safety lessons. This is NOT considered an Emergency Stop for this trainer.

6. Incoming power terminals - Hazardous Voltage! The trainer is powered by 120VAC connected to the terminal blocks to the top left of the drive.

7. 24VDC Power Supply - Comes with a 24VDC switching power supply. The trainer is designed for all switches, lights, and relay/contactor to be powered by 24VDC making it much safer than 120VAC trainers.

8. Contactor Relay (only on ICP option) - One contactor/relay. It is a double pole double throw which means it has two sets of contacts with both normally open and normally closed positions.

9. AC Drive (only on ICP option) - AC inverter drive which takes 120VAC in and creates 240VAC 3 phase out so this trainer can be used to learn about 3 phase power yet plugs into a standard wall outlet.

10. 3 Phase Motor/Fan (only on ICP option) - 3 phase fan along with the item 7 AC drive allows for 3 phase principles to be taught when only 120VAC wall outlet power is available.

11. 120VAC Wall Power - Your trainer has been designed to plug into a standard 120VAC 15 amp household outlet.

12. Selector Switches 3 Position - Two 3 position selector switches, Switches 3 and 4. The 3 position selector switches have a normally open contact and a normally closed contact for both the left and right position of the selector switch.

13. Selector Switches 2 Position - Two 2 position selector switches, Switches 1 and 2. The 2 position selector switches have a normally open contact that closes when you turn the switch to the right (clockwise).

16. Analog Potentiometer and Gauge (only on AIO option) - 10K potentiometer and a digital meter for 0-10VDC and 4-20mA analog signals.

17. Lights - Four lights colored green, yellow, red, and blue.

18.Ethernet switch (only on ICP option) - Four lights colored green, yellow, red, and blue.

19. Terminal blocks - To make your trainer more realistic, we have included terminal blocks for connecting to the 24VDC power supply. The group of 4 to the left is +24VDC and the group of 4 to the right is 0VDC.

20. Optional PLC - We have several optional PLCs or you may add your own. There are lessons later on wiring other components to your PLC and programming it. Lessons are written for Allen Bradley but can easily be followed for use with other PLCs such as Automation Direct, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, etc.
