There are important differences between UL 489 and 1077 breakers and knowing them will increase the life of your components.

The big difference is UL 489 Circuit Breakers are UL Listed for branch circuit protection whereas a UL 1077 are UL Recognized for supplemental protection. In other words, a UL 489 device protects the wire and the device downstream but the UL 1077 only protects the device.
