This is a very unique PLC trainer for those who need to understand both PLC to PLC communications and needs to be versed in Studio 5000, formerly RsLogix 5000, and Connected Components Workbench.
A PLC trainer with both a CompactLogix and a Micro850 is a great way to learn about industrial automation. This setup gives you hands-on experience with two of Rockwell Automation’s most common control platforms, which use different programming software and are used for different types of applications.
You can learn to use both Studio 5000 Logix Designer for the CompactLogix and Connected Components Workbench (CCW) for the Micro850. The CompactLogix is for more advanced, industrial systems and integrates well with distributed IO. The Micro850 is a more affordable option for smaller machines.
This combination also helps you understand the scalability of the Rockwell Automation product line. You can see how a simple control system (Micro850) can be scaled up to a more advanced one (CompactLogix). This experience prepares you for a wider range of projects.
Finally, you get to work with different communication protocols and hardware configurations. Even though both PLCs can communicate over EtherNet/IP, the setup process is different for each software platform. This practical experience is very valuable for troubleshooting in the real world.
This PLC trainer covering most aspects that you will see in an industrial control panel including:
Allen Bradley Compact Guardlogix 5380 PLC. Learn Controllogix and Compactlogix PLC principles plus integrated safety. Requires Rockwell Automation’s Studio 5000 / RsLogix 5000 PLC programming software (not included).
