Welcome to the next level of your career!

Get ready to dive into the world of industrial automation! You’ve taken the first big step by signing up for the Allen Bradley Micro800 PLC Training — now it’s time to level up your skills. This hands-on course will walk you through real-world control systems using Rockwell Automation’s free Connected Components Workbench software.

Tips for Success.

  • Take your time. If you ever come to our in person classes, I say “This is not a race” 50 times a week.

    • We all have different learning styles and speeds. You may want to block off a week and work your way through this course and you may only be able to block off an hour a night. The biggest advice I can give you is don’t move on to the next lesson until you have a firm understanding of the lesson you are on.

    • Long vs Short Lessons. I have put out over 1000 videos and some of them are 2 minutes long and one is nearly 10 hours. Some of you like long lessons and some like the short ones. In the next chapter, you will find long immersive videos that mix many different instructions and concepts. In the chapters after that, you will find shorter videos on very specific topics.

    • Revisit the lessons as needed. As you progress through the course, you may find that something from a previous lesson isn’t clear even though you swore you had a clear understanding of it earlier. This is normal, as you see how you would apply it out in the field, you will start looking at many of these concepts from a different point of view.

  • Relate these lesson to how you will use these skills. Think about your own projects and machine. While we do our best to make these lessons as “real world as possible”, if you can think about how you would apply them in your own situations then you will get more out of the course.

  • Track your progress. Use incorrect answers as stepping stones. Make notes of recurring mistakes and revisit those topics.

  • Ask questions. Engage with peers or communities — you’ll learn faster by talking through problems.

Test / Assessments.

  • Near the end of the course, you will find a section with test, quizzes, and challenges. Many of you are required to take these for as an assignment from your instructor, however those of you who are not required to do these should consider doing then anyway.

  • These can be valuable in helping prove your skills, identify gaps, and gain confidence in real-world PLC programming scenarios. Whether you’re preparing for job applications, certification, or just want to challenge yourself, they can be very helpful.
