Most PLC programmers don’t think about what happens to a PLC when the power is cycled

I read a lot of machine commissioning and startup checklist. They talk about ergonomics, making sure there are not sharp edges, even the color of the warning signs, but almost none of them address what happens to a machine when the power is cycled.

Every training week, I ask what happens to your machine when the power cycles. Most people think that it “resets” back to its initial condition and the outputs will be off, but that is a myth.
