Stop Guessing on Network Communications: Hands-On Messaging, Data Manipulation, and Troubleshooting
When industrial devices fail to talk, or when data arrives in a format your controller can't read, production halts. This hands-on lab dives deep into industrial Ethernet layers, cross-controller communications, and low-level data handling. Using live hardware setups, you will configure real-world communications between controllers, troubleshoot network faults, and manipulate incoming data streams so your machines process information cleanly and reliably.
Instead of guessing at communication parameters or struggling with scrambled bytes, you will gain practical skills to route data, isolate messaging breaks, and handle raw data transformations directly on the shop floor.
What You Will Build and Manipulate
Industrial Networking Fundamentals: Master the practical structure of industrial network layers, IP addressing, subnets, and packet routing between shop-floor controllers.
Produced/Consumed Tag Integration: Set up real-time, deterministic controller-to-controller data sharing across live hardware.
Explicit & Implicit Messaging: Configure explicit CIP read/write messages and implicit I/O connections to pass data between controllers and remote field hardware.
Low-Level Data Manipulation: Handle misaligned or scrambled data streams using byte swapping (SWPB), bit distribution (masking, bit shifts, and distribution logic), and word packing/unpacking so external data matches your controller's structure.
Network Break Diagnostics: Trace injected cabling breaks, communication time-outs, and data payload errors directly on physical trainers.
Why This Training Pays for Itself
Eliminate Data Misalignment: Quickly resolve scrambled data issues when integrating third-party devices, scales, or barcode readers.
Fix Intermittent Communication Drops: Trace messaging time-outs and network bottlenecks without swapping expensive hardware.
Seamless Controller Integration: Connect separate production cells and interlock machinery using reliable cross-controller communications.
