Scratch-Free Method

This video demonstrates a technique for cutting holes in UL 508A control panels using a jigsaw while minimizing scratches and ensuring a clean cut.

  • Protect the Surface: Apply a layer of low-residue duct tape to the panel, followed by a layer of painter's tape. This combination protects the surface and allows for clear markings.

  • Mark and Prepare: Draw your cut lines on the painter's tape. Place paper inside to catch dust.

  • Check for Obstructions: Before cutting, ensure no internal wires will be in the blade's path.

  • Pilot Holes: Drill four pilot holes to start your jigsaw cut.

  • Cut Carefully: Use a good quality metal-cutting blade and cut slowly.

  • Inspect and Finish: After cutting, remove the tape and check for scratches. Trim any excess material.
